It shouldn’t matter but I haven’t tested this myself on a VM. Either way give it a shot from an actual windows installation if possible.
Otherwise if you’re running it through Wine, run L2.exe in your shell (using
wine /path/to/L2.exeor whatever other arguments you pass it) and read the debug trace on the console after trying to set a crest and getting a critical error. Maybe it’ll help you figure out exactly where the problem lies.You need to do the quests for can level 4 and 5.
Have you tried another crest? Maybe it’s the image that’s messed up.

Your account looks activated. Per the instructions, you should wait 10 – 20 minutes before your game account gets activated.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you need to focus the chat window before switching windows. You can read the Alt+Tab fix and Alt tab fix Win 8+ guides for more help.

How is this coming along?
Slightly slowly, but we’re getting there. There’s a lot of sysadmin operations that I keep doing which are needed to bring the server to a more manageable state for myself, so that future updates don’t take as long.
Hero system is mostly conceived, Rebirth system is mostly conceived (affects hero and vice-versa), new custom farm area is also conceived but a bit hard to deal with the “smart” AI that I want to implement. I guess I can tease another really cool idea that I’ve had for a while which I’ve recently finished successfully testing and can move forward with implementation ideas for it; it has to do with respawning of mobs and different “grades” of drops. There’s not much more I can say about that without spoiling it 🙂
Other than that there’s a huge list of ideas and small tweaks that I’ve thought about and will slowly start adding, but those also need the background sysadmin operations that I talked about before. Even though people don’t actually see it, there a whole lot of updates going on in the background and a major one is going to be coming out either this or next week. I know these updates are a success when nobody actually notices them.

Once I’m done releasing some of the new features I will promote the server quite a bit with paid aids and so on. We also have a big userbase over the years, we’ll be sending a mass invitation to all of them to come join again and check out those new features.

The other raid bosses drop them. Look into the Tutorials & Guides of the forum for answers to a lot of your questions.
Vampiric rage is currently disabled against raid bosses to avoid some bug abuses. Once those are tested and fixed there will be a balance patch for Raid Bosses that will make fighters and tanks a lot more viable in those fights.
